If you’ve survived a stroke, I don’t need to explain anything to you.

You already know.

If you’re a caregiver, here’s what I will tell you: patience, time, and understanding.

And when you think you have no more to give, dig deep and find more—because that’s how you help your loved one come back.

This site was built by me, Geoff Giglio, and my half-brainstem.

With help from family—and a lot of stubbornness—we put this together so no one else has to go through recovery feeling lost and alone.

Here’s what you can expect from Hope After Stroke:

I will respond to every single email and phone call myself.

We can help bridge the gap between stroke survivors and their families.

We explain things doctors can’t (or won’t).

I’ll share my story directly with your survivor if it helps.

This isn’t medical advice. It’s another view—the view from someone who has lived it.

I implore every person reading this:

Be your own advocate.

And if you love a survivor, be a real advocate for them. Listen to them. They need that more than anything.

Look at all the options. Some of the best things I’ve found were outside of the “standard path.”

Talk to everybody. Learn everything. Then choose what works for you.

For me, there was no middle ground:

I decided I was either going to get everything back…

or die trying.
